Training & Show
Training at Numenor is done by myself, Joanna Byrne. I believe that horses should be started slowly, and when time is not an issue, should not begin to be ridden consistantly until the fourth year, and advanced training should not start until five. This gives their minds time to develop and helps cut down on dealing with silly baby behavior. It also gives their knees time to close and their bodies to grow. Of course, the luxury of taking your time is not always avalible, but even the horses started younger are brought up slowly.
I have some debilitating health issues, so it is rare that I will take on a new project, most often my own horses are enough. However I do make exceptions, and I excell at coaching and helping people with their horses. If I teach the horse something, you have to learn it too!
Showing is merely a fun way of letting the world know your horse is smart, and then you get the bonus of reputation for you and your horse. I have not shown much the last few years, a few training shows (because one should never stop learning). In the past I was active in 4-H and Open shows, and an avid Team Penning maniac!
